Nuestro pato Daruda sigue presente en Veracruz. Hace ahora 1 mes exacto que dejo el pantano de Santa Alejandrina para refugiarse a 120 km al norte. Se desplaza en la zona y parece en buen estado. Cuando se va a ir. Normalmente no hay cerceta alazul en México durante el verano

Daruda, our duck is still in Veracruz. There are now 1 complet month that It stay at 120 km north east of our marsh area. It moves in this region showing a good healthy birds. When it will leave? Normally there are no Blue-winged Teal in Mexico during summer time.

El pato Daruda, esta en la misma region en el centro del Estado de Veracruz desde ahora 3 semanas. La pasa a todo dar y no tiene ganas de regresar a casa.. Hay una distancia de 4 km entre los dos puntos, él del 24 de abril y él de hoy (5 de mayo)...Sin embargo, se desplaza en la zona, dando una buena señal de vida. Durante las 6 horas de transmisión se desplazó 3,8 km. Abajo un mapa con los tres puntos encontrados el 5 de mayo entre las 20:00 y las 23:00 horas (horario local)

Daruda duck stay in the same region, center of Veracruz state, and so since three weeks now. It likes it and doesn't want get back home. There 4 km between the april 24 reading and the one of today. But it moves in the region, during the 6 hours transmision, the duck moves around 2,36 miles. Below a map with the three locations the last May 5, between 20:00 and 23:00 hours (local time).

It loves Veracruz...

picopando muy ornamentado / Weird Looking Hudosnian Godwitnian

Ayer encontramos a este picopando ornamentado con detras de la cabeza todo blanco. Pensabamos que era una marca para seguir la durante la migración, pero no era nada mas un caso de leucismo.

yesterday we get a weird looking Hudsonian Godwit with all white back head. We was thinking that it was a mark system to follow them during migration, but nor band, not antenn, So just a case of leucistism...

proporción jovenes adultos / Ratio young adult

tenia la impresión de tener pocos jovenes de regresó esta temporada, Analizamos dos especies y si, en efecto esta pasando algo.

Para Buscabreña, habia mas jovenes en la primavera 2011 que 2012.
Para Colorín siete colores, es mas que marcado, casi no tenemos jovenes, pero si tenemos mas adultos. El 2011, el ratio de jovenes /adulto era muy en favor de los jovenes. Es muy extraño, seria diferentes estrategias de migración según los años? Pero este año no tenemos jovenes de colorín siete colores de regreso hacia el norte. Seria muy útil conocer datos semejante en otras estaciones y los resultados de MoSI para el invierno pasado.

We get the feeling that We have very few youg birds this spring. We start to graph the ratio of two species and aparently we were right. 

For Yellow-breasted Chat, during srping 2011 we get more young birds in proportion.

For Painted Bunting, it's very clear. In spring 2011, the ratio was in favor of the young, clearly. It's very weirfd because it was a very high young ratio. Could it be a migreation strategy? But this year We have almost no young birds. It will be very useful to get information of over station and known the Mosi Result of the last winter.

Hoy recibimos un correo de Fred Dietrich, anillador en EE.UU. Texas que me informa que recapturaron un Passerina ciris que anillamos. Este pajaro entre si marcación y su segunda captura realizó un viaje de 1500 km en 8 días. Un buen ejemplo de migración activa para tal pequeña ave. Gerardo Rodriguez Ramos, anilló a esta ave en Minatitlan y fue recuperado cerca de Sheffield, TX.

Today we receive a email from Fred Dietrich, bander in texas who told us that they capture a Painted Bunting  near Sheffield, Tx. Between banding time and recovery this bird covered the distance of 985 miles in only 8 days. A good exemple of active migration. Gerardo Rodriguez Ramos have banded this Bird in Minatitlán, southern part of Veracruz.

Hoy recibimos noticias de nuestro pato. Todavía anda en Veracruz, y porque queria quitar este lindo estado. La próxima lectura en una semana. Se desplazó nada mas de 20 km entre las dos lecturas, la del 21 de abril a 28 de abril.
