Hoy fue un día tranquilo, con la sorpresa, la triple sorpresa de capturar 3 Cuclillo manglero y dos Tangaras rojas.

Sigamos las especies residentes, y tenemos bastante recapturas de 1 o 2 años.. aves que regresan al sitio, año tras años...

Les compartamos unas fotos de las aves de hoy.

Today it was fairly quiet, with the surprise, the triple surprise of 3 Mangrove Cuckoos in the net and two Summer Tanager (one male, one female). 

We follow our work on the residents (winter residents) species and we get several recaptures of one or two years old. The birds come back year after year at our site..

Hoy abrimos las redes por la primera vez para el 2012, nos falta mucho por ir...Capturamos 39 aves. Con un carpinterillo americano, un chipe alazul, y muchas recapturas.

Final de la temporada / End of the season

Estimados

Ya un año de anillamiento. Capturamos este año 2011, en Minatitlan, 15,630 aves nuevas (de 160 especies) y tuvimos 1742 recapturas. Con lo que capturamos en oct-dic 2010, totalizamos 20,526 aves capturadas.

De estas aves, tuvimos recapturas fuera del sitio.
1 mascarita común en Winnipeg, Canada
1 chipe de corona negra en Braddock Bay Bird Observatory on the south shore of Lake Ontario
1 colorín siete colores en Louisiana
1 bolsero de Baltimore en Guatemala, cerca de Peten.
y 1 pijuy en Minatitlan.

Sobre especies raras, tuvimos un buen este año. Setophaga discolor, cerulea, palmarum, Vireo pallens, Laterallus exilis, Chondestes gramacus y Spizella pallida, Regulus calendula, etc.


Estaremos otra vez detras de las redes el año que entra, con mas trabajos sobre aves acuáticas.

One year more of banding (ringing). We captured this year 2011, in Minatitlán, 15,630 new birds (of 160 species) and we have 1742 recaptures. With the 2010 birds, we totalized 20,526 birds captured. 

Of these birds, we have 5 recaptures (so far).

1 Painted Bunting, in Louisiana

1 Baltimore Oriole in Guatemala, close to Peten.

We will start again 2012, and we will have more work on waterbirds.

semana del 11 de sept / Week of Sept 11.

Hola

Las lluvias.. Si las lluvias nos tienen limitados. solamente 698 nuevas capturas esta semana, no pudimos trabajar casi 3 días.

Las especies cambian, y el buscabreña esta rebasado ahora por los chipes amarillos. Vimos llegar las primeras mascarita común y el pavito norteño. Primera captura de polluela sora y de garzita de tular.

The strong rain give us a brake, and we caught only 698 new birds this week. We had 3 days off for rain.
The species change and teh yellow-breasted Chat is less commun, and Yellow Warbler take over. We had our first Common yellowthroat and American Redstart. And we cget our first capture of Sora, and Least Bittern.

Semana del 4 de septiembre / Week Sept 4.

Hola

Esta semana esta marcada por dos especies nuevas para el sitio, el chipe de pradera (Setophaga discolor) y el gorrión pálido (Spizella pallida). Estamos a 296 especies registradas para el sitio (274 nada mas para este año).
Pero también por el número de capturas: 1060 nuevas capturas esta semana con 142 horas red.
Abajo les anexamos una tabla de las capturas de la semana, son solamente 27 especies, pero veran datos impresionante de buscabreña. No esta mal. Solamente esta semana capturamos (755) mas buscabreña que durante todo el primavera (676).

This week gave us two new species for the site, Prairie Warbler and Clay-colored Sparrow. We get so far, 296 bird species recorded for the site (274 just this year)

But the most impressive is the number of capture: 1060 new bird banded with 142 hour mistnets. 

Below, You could find the capture by species for this week, are only 27 species, but, give a look at Yellow-breasted Chat number. Not bad..Just this week (755) we capture more YBCh than for all the spring season (676)

Si alguien no tiene idea que significa migración lo invitamos. Hoy fue un día increible, mas bien, una noche increible.
Hoy por la mañana, cada rama, hierba esta cubierta por aves, en particular buscabreña, no pudimos abrir todas las redes y capturamos solamente 1hora 30...pero fue sufisiante: 295 aves capturadas, de las cuales 254 buscabreñas...miran las fotos,

If somebody have no clue of the meaning of Migration, come to visit us, you will understand. It was a unbeliavable day, better night...

Today just before day light, each single grass, ting were covered by at least one bird, mainly Yellow-breasted Chat. We cannot open all the nets, and we captured only 1 hours and half, but it was enough: 295 birds captured (254 Yellow-breasted Chat), give a look at the pictures..

Perfil:

tener amplia experiencia en anillar aves, sacar de las redes, procesar, edad, sexo, todas especies de paseriformes. saber manejar Excel, Ppt, saber manejar coche (tener licencia). Ingles apreciado, español indispensable.

trabajo

anillar diario. realizar un reporte semanal, entrar datos y todo lo relacionado con las sesiones de anillamiento (recargar los anillos, fotocopiar las hojas, etc, etc..).

El trabajo esta pesado. Son dias muy largos de trabajo, las noches cortas. Se trabaja tres semanas completas incluido domingo y 7 días de descanso.

Se necesita alguien con compromiso al proyecto, que no teme los mosquitos, serpientes y gran cuantidades de aves en las redes (hay dia a mas de 200 aves).

El salario es según experiencia.
