Hoy instalamos nuestro transmisor satelital sobre un Anas discors. ¿Porque Anas discors? es una especie migratoria en el sitio, desaparece por completo en junio y los primeros nos llegan en septiembre. ¿Pero porque un pato? Queremos vincular los humedales de Norte América. Les invitamos a seguir las aventuras del Pato de ala azul.

La migración sigue con la captura del primer zorzal de Swainson el 22 de marzo. Les mantenemos informado del desarrollo de la migración, pero a partir de la próxima semana, los volumenes deberian incrementarse.

The migration follow with the first Swainson's Thrush captured for the spring the last March 22nd. We will continue to post the news of the migration, but normally the next week we will have more birds in the nets.

La migración de primavera ya esta por empezar. Los primeros papamoscas, colorines, y hoy el primer vireo de frente amarillo.
Todavía es muy baja la actividad, pero ya algunas aves se mueven, como el buscabreña, las calandrias castañas, regresaró la sub especies de Fuerte's. En fin el principio, pero pronto muchas aves...

The Spring migration have start but still slow. The first Great-crested Flycatcher, Painted and Indigo Buntings, and today our first Yellow-throated Vireo. 

It's still very slow activity, but some birds move around, like Yellow-breasted Chat, Orchard Oriole, the Fuerte's Oriole came back to its site. Just a start, but soon we will have lot of birds...

Tenemos ahora varios cientos de patos en las lagunas, entonces decidimos hacer una trampa para estos patos. Queremos empezar a marcarlos.. Hoy capturamos como 17.

las sorpresas / The surprises

Hola Por el momento estamos con pocas capturas, como 200 nuevas aves este año. Pero empezamos a diversifiar las especies con algunas sorpresas.
Ayer capturamos nuestras dos primeras cerceta alazul, y hoy por la mañana, nuestro primero pato de cabeza roja.  Hasta el momento llevamos 53 especies capturadas para el 2012. Que es un buen inicio en diversidad. Vamos a empezar a capturar patos fuertamente en una semana.. Ahora estamos en preparación

Hi, so far we get very few birds, with around 200 new birds this year. But we start to get some diversity with some surprises.

Yesterday we caught our first two Blue-winged Teal, and this morning our first ever Redhead, a male. So far we have captured in 2012, 53 species, it's a good beginning for the year. We will start duck strongly in one week. Currently we are preparing the site.

Pone el sitio que tenemos ttrabajando con Pemex refinación e IPN como el único sitio conocido con una población de esta especie en México

Corredor migratorio de primer importancia, entre otro sitio de migración para el buscabreña Icteria virens de importancia continental.

Sitio de stopover para Limosa haemastica, y 28 otras especies de aves playeras

Sitio de reprodución y/o refugio para Cairina moschata y Amazona oratrix, dos especies en Peligro de extinción en México.

Especies amenazadas como Botaurus pinnatus, Falco femoralis, Aramus guarauna anidan en el sitio.

17,500 aves capturadas en el 2011, 5 recapturas internacionales desde Canada hasta Guatemala.
