20,000

Para el año 2012, al día 23 de septiembre hemos capturado 20,022 aves. Es un record para nosotros y probablemente para México..y todavía nos falta 3 meses de trabajo. Veremos a cuantas aves logramos capturar hasta el fin del año. 

Les presentamos aqui el ave número 20,000, un joven de vireo ojo blanco.
Gracias a todo el personal de Pemex refinación, a todo el apoyo del IPN ESIQIE y al equipo en campo, Gerardo Rodriguez Ramos, Pedro Luis Muciño, Georgita Ruiz Michael y un servidor, que llevaron a cabo el trabajo de campo, con el apoyo Jose Angel Mesa y Jose Serrano

For 2012, at september 23th we have captured 20022 birds. It's a record for us, and probably for Mexico. and we have still three months of work.. We will see at how many birds we will have this year.

ya acabo el mes de agosto, y la migración ya empezó seriamente. De las 57 especies capturadas este mes, 26 son residentes. El resto puras migratorias. En total capturamos 4000 aves este mes, con 3937 nuevas y el resto recapturas locales. El bolsero castaño nos cayo por miles con 1835 en total, casi la mitad de todas las capturas del mes.

Abajo les pasamos una lista de los aves capturadas.

August is over and the migration starts seriously. From the 57 species we captured last month, 26 were resident species. The rest was completly migratory. In total, we captured 4000 birds in august, with 3937 news birds and the rest local recaptures. The Orchard Oriole were very common with lot of captures, almost half of the total of the month captures.

En las últimas 3 semanas hemos capturados 4644 aves. Llevamos un total para este año de 3442 Icteria virens capturados. Les anexo abajo una gráfica de las capturas de la semana del 2 de septiembre. Impresionante, no creen!

During the last 3 weeks we captured 4644 birds. Just for Yellow-breasted Chat this year, so far, we get 3442 birds. Below a graph of the week captures between sept 2nd to 8th. Impressive isn't it??

que de noticias..
Primeramente, ya llegamos a 13,000 aves capturadas este año. La migración esta loca y capturamos montones de aves estas dos últimas semanas, rompiendo record la semana pasada con 1368 aves capturadas en la semana.
Nuestro pato Daruda, ya se fue de sus sitio de verano, pero no esta de regreso, al contrario se va hacia el norte. Por el momento se fue 150 km mas al norte, todavía en el Saskatchewan, Canada.

Ahora las capturas mas comunes son el buscabreña, el bolsero castaño y empiezan hoy a monstrar la punta del pico los bolseros de Baltimore y el picogrueso azul. La mayoria de los adultos de papamoscas sauceros ya pasaron y esperamos los jovenes que todavía ni aparecen.

Instalamos un microfono en Minatitlan para grabar los llamados de las aves durante sus migraciones nocturnas. Veremos, ya empezo a grabar desde el 28 de agosto.

Y todavía les esperamos aqui con nosotros a compartir sangre con los moscos. Aqui mismas las serpientes dan sangre.

Lot of news

First of all, we get our 13000 birds this years, done. The migration is crazy and we captured lot of birds this last two weeks, we broke record the last week with 1368 birds captured 

Our duck, Daruda, had left his summer site but it is not coming back, it is going north again.. Currently it's around 99 miles north, still in Saskatchewan, Canada.

Now our most common species captured are Yellow-breasted Chat, Orchard Oriole, and the Baltimore Oriole and Blue Grosbeak starts to show the tip of the beak. The majority of the adult of Willow and Alder Flycatcher goes over and still almost any young in the landscape. 

we installe a Microphone on the roof of Minatitlan Airport to record the birds calls during night migration. We just start since august 28. 

And we are still waiting for you to show up to share blood with the mosquitos. here same the snake gave blood.

hoy fue el primer día de la temporada a mas de 200 aves en las redes. El año pasado a la misma fecha teniamos 41 capturas.. Parece que la migración es mas temprana este año que el otoño 2011.
Aqui les adjuntamos una foto panorámica de nuestro sitio de captura, nada particular.

Today was our fisrt over 200 birds captured. The last years at the same date, we had 41 birds in the nets. It seens that fall migration is earlier than last fall.

Durante la noche, los búhos están felices en este pantano, buho cara blanca, lechuzas de campanario, en invierno tecolote llanero, búho oreja corta y durante el día tecolote bajeño-

During night time, the Owls are very happy on this site, Striped Owl, Barn Owl, during winter Burrowing and Short-eared Owls and during day time: Ferruginous Pygmy Owl. 

Daruda, 7 semanas en Canada / 7 weeks in Canada

Daruda, nuestro pato con transmisor satelital sigue su estancia verañiera en Saskatchewan. Ahora hace 7 semanas que anda en las tierras del jarabe de maple. En las dos últimas lecturas, al parecer extiende mas su territorio, se mueve mas. Será la preparación para el regreso a México? Ojala el futuro nos lo diga...

Daruda, our Blue-winged Teal with sattelital transmission is still in summer camp in Saskatchewan. Since now 7 weeks it lives in the land of Maple Sirop. For the last two rading, it seens to extend its range, it moves more. May be preparing its coming back to Mexico. We hope that future will let us know...
