Hola,

hoy fue el primer día de la temporada a mas de 200 aves en las redes. El año pasado a la misma fecha teniamos 41 capturas.. Parece que la migración es mas temprana este año que el otoño 2011.
Aqui les adjuntamos una foto panorámica de nuestro sitio de captura, nada particular.

Today was our fisrt over 200 birds captured. The last years at the same date, we had 41 birds in the nets. It seens that fall migration is earlier than last fall.

Durante la noche, los búhos están felices en este pantano, buho cara blanca, lechuzas de campanario, en invierno tecolote llanero, búho oreja corta y durante el día tecolote bajeño-

During night time, the Owls are very happy on this site, Striped Owl, Barn Owl, during winter Burrowing and Short-eared Owls and during day time: Ferruginous Pygmy Owl. 

Daruda, 7 semanas en Canada / 7 weeks in Canada

Daruda, nuestro pato con transmisor satelital sigue su estancia verañiera en Saskatchewan. Ahora hace 7 semanas que anda en las tierras del jarabe de maple. En las dos últimas lecturas, al parecer extiende mas su territorio, se mueve mas. Será la preparación para el regreso a México? Ojala el futuro nos lo diga...

Daruda, our Blue-winged Teal with sattelital transmission is still in summer camp in Saskatchewan. Since now 7 weeks it lives in the land of Maple Sirop. For the last two rading, it seens to extend its range, it moves more. May be preparing its coming back to Mexico. We hope that future will let us know...

Yesterday, we captured 92 Orchard Orioles, mainly adult birds.

Tomorrow, Cynthia Eunice goes back to her native state, Nuevo Leon, after to spend 3 weeks with us, We hope she learns a bit to be able to run her degre on moult. 

 

Bolsero castaño / Orchard Oriole

La noche pasada hicimos una prueba de migración y en efecto, Icterus spurius esta pasando. En la mañana teniamos mas de 30 icterus spurius alrededor de las redes que quedaron cerradas por lluvia. Me avisaron desde Florida (Meret Wilson) que el chipe trepador y los primeros playeritos estan llegando. Estamos listos en Veracruz par recibir a los primeras aves migratorias.

Last night we do a migration try, and in fact, Orchard Oriole is migrating now. This morning we get around 30 Orchard oriole around our mistnets, but rain doesn't give us chance to open them..We jsut get a message from Florida (Meret Wilson) that Black and White Warbler and the first shorebirds are showing up. We are ready in Veracruz to receive the migrant birds.

es un nombre no muy familiar para muchos de nosotros. pero para Daruda, son dos nombres de pueblos que el conoce.. Uno en el norte de Texas y el otro en el sur de Saskatchewan, Canada, a donde esta ahora desde ahora una semana.

It's not a familiar name for most of us, but for Daruda Duck is a commun name. It knows at least two village with this name. One in northern Texas, EE.UU. and the other one in Southern Saskatchewan, Canada, where it spends summer currently.

Todavía no estamos en julio y ya empiezan a aparecer. Bolsero castaño, es el primer. Tambien capturamos un gorrión de Lincoln pero dudamos que sea un migratorio, mas bien un soñador que olvido de irse.
Que hacen los bolseros castaños tan tempranos aqui? Listos para anidar otra vez? Historia que seguir..

We are still in june, and the first migrantes species show up. Orchard Oriole, the first one. We capture this week a Lincoln's Sparrow, but for this one we think it's more a dreamer who forget to go to the North..

What are doing here the Orchard Oriole, so early? Ready to intent a new breeding season? Story to follow...

Daruda en Canada / The Duck in canada

Nuestro pato se fue cerca de Shamrock, a 7 km al sur sur oeste de este pueblo y a 5.5 Km al norte noroeste de Wiwa Hill..Esta abajo a la zona de mayor concentración de Anas discors durante el verano. Hay chance todavía que se mueva mas al norte. Les compartimos el mapa del viaje y la de Censo de anidación de esta especie.

Our duck is close to Shamrock, at 7 km south south west of this town and at 5.5 km at north north west of Wiwa Hill. It is below the region where blue-winged Teal is the most concentrate during summer time. It still possible that Daruda moves north a bit...We share the traveling map and the BBS census map.
