Pasamos las 500 aves capturadas este mes / Over 500 birds caught this year

Acabamos de capturar el No 500, nada mas empezamos, estamos a enero... vamos en camino.
Ayer a la noche, capturamos un Passerculus sandvichensis atípico. Alguien nos podrian ayudar a saber que sub especie es.

We just get over 500 birds caught this month, we just start, we are in january. 

Yesterday night, we get a very brown Savannah Sparrow, not like the other we find here, darker. Somebody could identify this sub species, probably a western race.. Let us know

Sigamos trabajando duro en el pantano de Santa Alejandrina, y desde el año nuevo, encontramos 2 nuevas especies, la última Spinus psaltria.
El sitio tiene solamente 813 hect (373 veces mas pequeño que el Pantano de Centla, que tiene regristrado solamente 255 especies).

We follow working hard in Santa Alejandrina Marsh Area, and since new year, we get 2 new species for this site, the last one Lesser Goldfinch.

This site have only 813 hect (373 time smaller than Centla Biosfere, who registered only 255 bird species.).

primera semana de Enero / First Week of January

acabamos de retomar el trabajo de monitoreo. Ninguna nueva especie para el sitio, pero encontramos Anthus rubescens que es una rareza para el sur de Veracruz. Checan la pagina de foto de las aves del sitio

Esta semana estamos a 121 aves nuevas capturadas y como 40 recapturas.. vamos poco a poco, con la meta de capturar mas de 10,000 aves este año. Acabamos el año 2010 con 142 especies capturadas, y 4712 aves capturadas.  Esperemos que sea mejor este año.

Just back to work on our banding/ seighting station. Any new species for the site, but we get American Pipit, which is a rarety for the Southern Veracruz state. Give a look to the picture section. 

This week we get around 121 new birds and 40 recapture and so. Few a few, with the goal to get more than 10,000 birds this years...We finish at 142 species caught the last years with only 4712 birds. So, may be better this year.

al final de la temporada / end of the season

Ya cerramos la estación de anillamiento, acabamos a 3154 aves capturadas de 73 especies. Tenemos 3 estaciones MoSI y dos estación de migración. Reempezamos el 3 de enero del 2011. Mientras disfrutan algunas fotografias que subimos a la red.

We close down the banding station, we finish our two month of capture with 3154 birds captured. We have now three MoSI station, and two migratory station.. We start again January 3, meanwhile enjoy some pictures that we upload in the net.

Los trabajos de marcajes y seguimientos de aves dan frutos. en día de hoy estamos a 259 especies de aves para el sitio, con Megarhynchus pitangua, la última especie descubierta para este sitio.

The banding and census works gave results, today we have 259 bird species recorded ever on this site, with a Boat-billed Flycatcher, the last species found.

Empezamos a ver algunos playeritos presente durante el invierno, aqui les va la monjita, el patamarillo mayor y un costeruro gris

We start to see some winter resident shorebirds, like these Black-necked Stilt, Greater Yellowlegs and Short-billed Dowitcher.

Aqui una gráfica de las 10 especies mas comunes capturadas en el pantano.
Los Melospiza lincolni fueron muy presentes, pero fijanse en las recapturas del chipe charquero y del pavito migratorio. Son residentes de invierno.

Here a bar graph of the 10 most commun species captured during the last 6 weeks in the marsh area.

The Lincoln's Sparrow were well present, but give a look at the recapture fo Northern Waterthrush and American Redstart, for sure are residente around in the winter time.
