There are skeptics of climate change, Our data show a clear shift in Robin population structure, Rufous-backed Robin (RBRO) versus Clay-colored Thrush. The first one disappears. Our long-term monitoring shows a drastic decrease  of the RBRO.

Today we caught again a Northern Beardless Tyrannulet of 8 years and 11 months old, our second bird of this age. 

Our group today was of 6 persons. Very nice groups and we have a perfect gender representation (3 womens, 3 mens).

Many thanks to Xcaret for supplying the bands and thank you RROS (Redwood Region Ornithological Society), thanks to you, for the July session, we'll be able to put up 3 more mistnets, They will be used to study the cultivate area in the ethnobotanical garden.

 Jardín Ethnobotánico de Oaxaca, Session 238. we extend so far, 17km 136 m of mistnets (72 meters per session)

49 birds caught, mean 1,36 bird per hour/mistnet

and again, like last month, we have a very old Clay-colored Thrush of 10 years and 11 months old. 

Look here what it was known about longevity for this species. 

We know now that The Botanical Garden is a great place for older Clay-colored Thrush. 😁

and it is a great place for younger birders and learn with Edgar del Valle and other certified NABC bird banders

 Jardin Ethnobotanic of Oaxaca, april 30th , session 237 with a total of 8.535 accumulated hours mistnet and 18.352 birds captured. Average bird per mist: 2,15 in 21 years long term effort.

 

 

 

Our team, 15 persons, we are very happy to be able to train so many young talented people (Here the bander in charge, Edgar del Valle NABC bander certified) explaining how to mesure a wing chord.

Desde ayer, en relación con el proyecto 50 ducks equipamos dos Cercetas Alas Azules machos en el Parque Estatal Sierra Morelos (EDOMEX) , una de 360 grs y la otra de 413 grs con transmisores GSM solar. 

As of yesterday, in connection with the 50 ducks project we equipped two drake Blue-winged Teals in Sierra Morelos State Park (EDOMEX), one of 360 grs and the other of 413 grs with solar GSM transmitters.

Un equipo compuesta de ya acostumbrados,. Erwin, David, Edgar, Rebeca y Manuel y visitantes como Sandi y su hijo y Oscar de la UABJO que viene de manera más regular.

los datos siguen monstrando una tendencia negativa a largo plazo

Sin embargo, en las 13 últimos años parece que la tendencia cambia, hacia más aves en el jardín Etnobotánico.

Sobre muda, encontramos este Molothrus aeneus mudando exclusivamente de la cabeza. Probablemente acabando su muda preformativa. 

Las aves ya tienen reserva de grasa, listos para irse al norte, encontrarmos un Leiothlypis ruficapilla con 8.9 grs de masa corporal.. casi 25% más que su peso de invierno
